Scientific research for the effect of CBD in cat, dogs and horses
We have a research collaboration with the University of Bologna and their Department of Veterinary Medical Sciences for a range of studies for the effect of cannabidiol (CBD) in cats, dogs and horses.
The Department of Veterinary Medical Sciences is studying the effect of cannabidiol (CBD) in animals. The objective is to increase the understanding of the effect in animals to continue to improve our product development of CBD pet products. Read more about or research collaboration with University of Bologna.
The research study on CBD and cats is published
The first study “Localization of cannabinoid and cannabinoid related receptors in the cat gastrointestinal tract” is published and available for free here.
Cannabinoid receptors showed a wide distribution in the feline gastrointestinal tract layers. Although not yet confirmed/supported by functional evidences, the present research might represent an anatomical substrate potentially useful to support, in feline species, the therapeutic use of cannabinoids during gastrointestinal inflammatory diseases.
The research study on CBD and horses is published
The Department of Veterinary Medical Sciences at University of Bologna just published our research of CBD and horses study called “Research study: Localisation of cannabinoid and cannabinoid-related receptors in the equine dorsal root ganglia (horses)“. You can read about the study here.
The research study on CBD and dogs has been completed
The research study on CBD and dogs has been completed and will be published shortly.
The benefits of CBD oil for pets
CBD oil can help with various acute and chronic diseases. While some conditions have been studied more than others, research has shown that CBD can sometimes help with arthritis, immunity, stress responses, aggression and digestive issues. Some research also shows promise for CBD helping treat diabetes, organ diseases, and symptoms of cancer treatment.
Veterinarians have found that CBD can help treat acute injuries such as sprains, torn ligaments, broken bones, and even with post-operative care through reducing swelling, pain, and stiffness, based on the effects CBD has on an animal’s endocannabinoid system.
